Hi everyone a few more questions I can't find answers for:


Why has the skill bar only got 8 slots when I have many skills that I need to use? is there a away to enable more skill bars?



Why is the game capped at lvl 20?

There are only 8 skillslots so you'll have to pick the skills you bring in town. GW is a teamgame, other people's skillbars can complement your own. You can't get 'more' skillbars.

And the game is capped at 20 because Anet said so. Level isn't much of an issue in GW.

Can't use more then 8 skills, ganna have to make combos with them.

Anet just capped it at level 20, then again that's when the real fun begins.

Reaching level 20 is the beginning of your character's adulthood. Everything that came before was schooling.

Guild Wars is about skill. You don't get better by mashing buttons and killings things, so that your levels keep going up. You get better by learning to use your skills and understanding team synergy.

Agree with everythin that's been said; Being good at putting skills together, and how determined you are at gaining\capping elite skills, will determine your outcome of this game.

Plus, the 8 skills thing actually allows for MORE versatility in the game.

In other MMOs where there are tons of skills, everybody uses the same specs and skills. There are only like 4 or 5 ways to play one character.

But in guild wars, there are dozens of ways to play just a single attribute in your profession. Where in other games there would be a "water elementalist" and "air elementalist" spec, in Guild Wars there are tons of different types of air elementalists.

Add in dual profession system, and Guild Wars has one of the most versatile class system of any modern MMO.

Summed up perfectly.

This is why i favour GW over WoW (being the only other MMO ive played) WoW was far too confusing with its 40 odd skills, and annoyed me how long it took to get to top dog level if you havent a clue what your doing.

GW proph has the best learning curve, and when your lvl 20, thats where the fun begins, and when you think your good, head on into Hard Mode and watch your well thought out team builds crumble I like the challenge, although the longer you play, less the challenge is, but thats the same with all games.

It's the way the game is, its all balanced perfectly. Like many others ive seen say, the game IS about skill and taking the right builds to the right places so on.

yes, i know. 'but', i was merely pointing out the who "capping makes you pro" thingie is so not true. ^^

Reading this I have to say that the builds system of gw is actually one of the most enjoyable things about gw. I just hope that gw2 will have such a system were there are elite skills and there is a skillbar that will make you wana trash your pc for not letting you add one more skill to your skillbar just to make your uber build more uubbeerrerrrrr

seriously though, this skill system is what made gw so unique in the first place and also so enjoyable.

To me it seems like you are asking:
"why is GuildWars so GuildWars-like and not more like some other game?"

The skill bar limit and the lvl 20 level cap are some of the most important parts of the game concept, if you do not like those features, maybe you should ask yourself if you are playing the wrong game.

I wouldn't go that far, however with the current lvl 20 cap and use of only 8 skills, it does come pretty damn close. Much more thought must go into each set up than just putting every skill you have available into you skill bar and mowing thru everything.

I also hope GW2 has some type of similiar set up so it stays unique and challenging.

Because guild wars was not originally supposed to be about grinding, like wow and other games. The level cap was low, so anyone could reach it (and pvp chars start at it) Max armor is max armor, regardless if it cost 5k or 500k. Same with weapons. The point was that you didn't HAVE to grind to get better stuff, but you could if you wanted rarer stuff.

And as for only 8 skills slots, it makes you choose your skills better. Instead of just bringing every skill there is, you have to make builds that work because if you bring 1 crappy skill that doesn't work in an area, you're really handicapping yourself.

I can't remember where I read it, but I think the lore reason for their being eight skills is that each skill is in fact a ring, worn on one of your eight fingers (excluding thumbs). Thus why some skills are called signets.

I could be wrong, but I am sure I read that somewhere over the last four years!
